Maribor/Ljubljana, 09 February (STA) - Internet services provider Amis officially entered the mobile communications market on Thursday. It will offer mobile services in conjunction with Simobil, the no. 2 wireless operator, as part of quadruple play packages with broadband internet access, television and fixed-line telephony.
Simobil was picked for its mobile telephony track record and the quality of the network, Amis director Boštjan Košak told the press in Maribor.
Amis will use selected Simobil subscription packages, which will be tweaked for the bundle.
Košak would not say what kind of wireless market share Amis was seeking, saying only that the plan was "ambitious" and would initially focus on the existing pool of 80,000 Amis subscribers.
In the spring Amis also plans to launch mobile TV, which will be available on mobile devices with the operating systems Android and IOS.
Amis has become the third provider to offer quadruple play services after telecoms incumbent Telekom Slovenije and T-2.
Telemach, the no. 1 cable provider, is said to be eyeing the mobile market as well.
