Kidričevo, 29 March (STA) - Car seat covers maker Boxmark and aluminium producer Talum, the two biggest companies in the town of Kidričevo (NE), have announced a joint venture involving aluminium garden furniture coated with waterproof leather. They said the idea is already generating major interest abroad, including from major tourist cruisers and the hotel industry.
Boxmark Leather head Marjan Trobiš said that the enormous interest with which the prototypes were met a recent presentation at a fair in Miami, US, had affirmed the company in its plans to set up a new EUR 7m production hall that will span across 4,000 square metres.
He feels this will be an opportunity for Boxmark to expand its production beyond the unstable car sector, pointing to the aviation, cruiser ship and hotel industries.
Trobiš recently explained for business daily Finance that the entire line, the first of its kind globally, will be presented at the September fair in Monaco and that the leather-coated deck chairs generated substantial interest in the US.
He expects the first orders already in the summer, which is why Boxmark and Talum are already getting ready to move to production stage.
