Ljubljana, 27 May (STA) - The business confidence index in Slovenia in May stood at -14 points, which is on par with a month earlier and also on May last year. The index is 12 points below the long-term average, the Statistics Office said.
The biggest rise in optimism was registered in the construction sector, where the index rose 7 points on the month to -20 points. The value of the index is 24 points higher than in May last year.
The confidence index in manufacturing was at -5 points, which is 4 points higher than in April and 6 points higher than in May 2012.
In retail, optimism was also higher on a monthly level at -4 points, which is 2 points more than in April. But the index dropped 6 points compared to the same month last year.
Meanwhile, the service sector saw a drop in confidence, with the index standing at -14 points, which is 5 points down on the month and 7 points less on the year.
