Business Sentiment Remains Unchanged

Ljubljana, 23 February (STA) - Business sentiment in Slovenia remained level in February over the month before, with the business sentiment index at -12 percentage points, down five percentage points year-on-year and eleven percentage points below the long-term average, the Statistics Office said on Thursday.

While the confidence indicator in retail surged on the monthly level and construction and services recorded a mild increase, the indicator was down in manufacturing.

Although up seven points, the confidence indicator in retail was still four percentage points lower than in February 2011 and four points below the long-term average.

The confidence indicator in manufacturing was down two points compared to January, nine points over the year before and two points below the long-term average.

The index was slightly up in construction, gaining three points on the monthly level and as much as eleven points year-on-year. It was however still a full 23 points below the long-term average.

In services, the indicator was up two points over January, seven points lower than in February 2011 and as much as 26 points below the long-term average.
