Business Sentiment Spikes in January

Ljubljana, 27 January (STA) - The business sentiment indicator rose three percentage points to -9% in January, its highest level in 26 months, as confidence indicators approved across the board.

Seasonally-adjusted confidence indicators improved in retail, construction and services but inched lower in manufacturing.

The biggest spike was recorded in retail, where the index surged 12 points over the month before to 9%, the highest it has been since February 2012, on the back of bullish outlook for the next quarter.

In construction the index was up four points to -16%, and in services it rose seven points to -5%, a 22-month high.
