Ljubljana, 26 May (STA) - Slovenian businesses appear increasingly bullish. The business sentiment index surged five percentage points in May over the month before and was up 16 points year-on-year as figures improved across the board, show Statistics Office data released on Monday.
In manufacturing the sentiment indicator rose two points on the monthly basis and eight points year-on-year on the back of upbeat expectations for the next three months.
The sentiment indicator in retail surged 14 points on the previous month and 25 points over April 2013.
In construction the indicator rose 11 points over April and 19 points year-on-year, to exceed the long-term average by 15 points.
At minus three percentage points, it is at its highest level since September 2008.
In the services sector the indicator jumped five points over the month before and 24 points over the same period last year.
