Ljubljana, 03 February (STA) - A total of 5,484 new cars and vans were sold in Slovenia in January, which is an increase of 9.72% year-on-year, the Chamber of Commerce said on Wednesday.
Renault remained the most popular car maker in the country, selling 1,036 cars (20.51%). Nearly 13% of all cars sold last month were Volkswagens, followed by Opel (6.77%).
The number of new vans increased from 426 to 434 compared to January 2009, while the number of cars went up from 4,572 to 5,050 year-on-year. Renault Clio was the best-selling car, followed by Renault Megane.
The van market was also dominated by French car makers. Renault's vehicles were the most popular, followed by Citroen and Peugeot.
