Ljubljana, 15 September (STA) - The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GZS) conferred on Wednesday golden awards for best innovations in Slovenia in 2009 to as many as 14 companies, with electro-technical products maker Eti bagging three and pharma company Krka two awards.
The list of gold-winners also includes electronics components maker Domel, steelworks Acroni, boats maker Seaway group, household appliances maker BSH hisni aparati, R&D companies MM Partner and MSX raziskovanje in razvoj, water beds maker Maremico, fire extinguishers maker Argas, steel company Metal Ravne, maker of pre-fabricated construction panels Trimo, bathroom elements maker Kolpa and the Chemistry Institute.
On the occasion, GZS boss Samo Hribar Milic underlined the importance of innovation for exiting the crisis and for boosting Slovenia's competitiveness. He said the GZS has been actively promoting innovation for over a decade.
The chamber also conferred 24 silver and 12 bronze awards today. This year's award-giving ceremony is the eighth in a row. Over 290 innovations were assessed, with over 700 innovators from Slovenian companies participating in the projects.
So far, more than 2,500 innovators participated in the GZS annual competitions. The chamber will nominate Slovenian candidate for the European Inventor of the Year Award by the end of the month.
