Ljubljana, 23 April (STA) - The consumer confidence index rose two percentage points in April on the back of favourable outlook for employment in the next year, the Statistics Office said on Friday.
In a confirmation of an ongoing upswing in consumer confidence, the index was six percentage points above the average for 2009 and 17 percentage points higher than in April 2009.
Consumers were much more confident about prospects for employment in Slovenia for the coming 12 months in April, with the employment confidence index rising by eight percentage points to hit its highest level in six months.
Moreover, the survey found consumers getting ready to spend on refurbishing their homes, with the renovation index rising two percentage points to its highest mark since October 2009.
As many as 12% of the respondents indicated they were very likely to spend on renovation in the coming 12 months, while 13% said they were likely to make renovation-related purchases.
