Ljubljana, 30 October (STA) - Consumer prices in Slovenia were almost flat year-on-year as the annual inflation rate stood at -0.1% in October, according to data released by the Statistics Office on Thursday.
While Slovenia has faced deflation since August, the rate of the drop in prices abated in October. At the monthly level consumer prices picked up 0.2% on average.
The biggest drop in prices at the annual level was registered in the communication group of products and services, which were 3.5% cheaper on average.
Prices of home equipment was down by 2.3%, clothing and footwear by 1.7% and food was 0.5% cheaper year-on-year.
Meanwhile, the price of alcohol and tobacco products was up 3.7% and recreation and cultural products and services were 1.8% dearer over last October.
Measured with the harmonised index of consumer prices, the EU gauge, the annual inflation rate in Slovenia stood at 0.1% in October.
