Ljubljana, 22 January (STA) - The Conventa three-day exhibition for conference events organisation in south-eastern Europe kicked off in Ljubljana on Tuesday with over 200 foreign guests from 25 countries taking part.
The attendance has set a new record, as it rose by a quarter over last year, the organisers said. As many as 3,158 meetings have been arranged to take place through Thursday.
Head of the Ljubljana Tourist Board Barbara Vajda told the press on Wednesday that Conventa was an important event in the development of tourism in the Slovenian capital, which has put a special focus on conference events.
As part of this strategy, Ljubljana is expected to host a record number of conference in 2014, 13 of which are expected to attract over 500 participants.
Providers of conference and meeting event services from 12 countries, including most of the ex-Yugoslav republics, Turkey, Romania and Austria, are presenting their businesses at Conventa.
Exhibitors from SE Europe were invited to participate at the expo for the first time this year.
