Ljubljana, 24 April (STA) - DARS, the state-owned motorway operator, almost doubled its net profit in 2013 to EUR 47m on the back of revenue that rose 3% over the year before to EUR 328m.
Toll revenue rose almost 4% to EUR 305.3m, with lorry tolls rising 6.4% to EUR 166.3m and car tolls almost level at EUR 139m, the company said on Thursday.
The rest of the revenue came from selling know-how on foreign markets and leasing of the optical network that runs along the motorway network.
Expenses dropped 5% to EUR 271m as the result of cost-cutting and restructuring measures.
The company paid back EUR 142.6m in debt principal and interest in 2013, reducing the total outstanding debt to EUR 2.8bn as at the end of the year.
