Decline Continues in Slovenian Construction

Ljubljana, 13 July (STA) - Slovenia's construction sector saw a hefty contraction in May, with the value of works falling by 17.5% over April and 23.8% over May 2011, the Statistics Office said on Friday.

The value of construction works in May was down 42.3% on the average monthly output from the benchmark year of 2005.

The value of works on buildings fell by 19.9% year-on year, while engineering works were down by 25.5% over May 2011.

Statistics show Slovenia's construction sector has contracted over 50% since the bursting of the construction bubble in 2008.
