Ljubljana, 25 October (STA) - The business sentiment in Slovenia continued to decline in October, falling a further two percentage points from September to -23 points. The October value of the index was 13 points lower year-on-year and 22 points below the long-term average, the Statistics Office said on Thursday.
The confidence index was down six points from September in retail, three points in services, two points in construction and one point in manufacturing.
Compared to October 2011, the index was down 20 points in services, 19 points in retail and nine points in manufacturing, while it remained level in construction.
Low demand was listed as a strong limiting factor in all areas, while financial constrains were also an issue in services and the main limiting factors in retail included strong competition and high labour costs.
The uncertain economic situation and unpaid claims were listed at the main limiting factors in manufacturing, while the construction sector was also hindered by competition, high labour, material and financing costs, and low credit availability.
