European Commission Approves EUR 40M for Slovenian Gas Project

Brussels, 04 March (STA) - The European Commission approved Thursday EUR 40m for a pipeline between the border with Austria and Ljubljana, a project undertaken by Slovenian gas distributor Geoplin plinovodi.

The Commission will distribute EUR 2.3bn among 43 energy projects as part of the European programme for recovery. The projects are also aimed at the construction of cross-border infrastructure to improve energy security.

Energy Commissioner Guenther Oettinger said that the Commission had selected key projects that would contribute to the construction of a more connected energy network in Europe and improve the flexibility of energy flows across member states' borders.

The selected projects are to receive the funds in 18 months.
