Factory-Gate Prices Slightly Up in March

Ljubljana, 19 April (STA) - Producer prices were up 0.1% in March over the month before and 0.8% higher than in March 2012, the Statistics Office said on Friday. The prices of products sold on the domestic market rose by 0.3% in monthly comparison, while the prices of exported goods dropped by 0.1%.

The prices were up for energy (+2.1%), consumer goods (+0.1%) and intermediate goods (+0.1%). On the other hand, capital goods prices decreased by 0.4%.

In March, factory-gate prices increased the most in electricity (by 2.6%), printing and reproduction of recorded media (by 1.6%) and in manufacturing of computer and optical products (by 1.5%).

On the other hand, they decreased the most in manufacturing of motor vehicles and trailers (by 0.8%), in manufacturing of beverages (by 0.7%) and in manufacturing of other transport equipment (by 0.6%).

The prices of goods sold on the domestic market increased the most in manufacturing of computer and optical products (by 3.6%), electricity (by 2.6%) and in manufacturing of basic metals (by 1.2%).

Meanwhile, they decreased the most in manufacturing of coke and petroleum products (by 1.7%), of beverages (by 0.7%) and in manufacturing of furniture (by 0.6%).

The prices of products sold on the markets of the euro area dropped by 0.3% in monthly comparison but rose by 0.7% annually.

Products sold on the non-euro area markets were 0.2% more expensive on the monthly level, while their price rose by 0.2% on the annual level.

Between March 2012 and March 2013, factory gate prices rose by 0.8%. The prices on the domestic market went up by 1.1% in the same period and on the non-domestic market by 0.5%.
