Ljubljana, 10 August (STA) - Slovenia's industrial output was down 2.6% in June compared to the month before, but was up 1.9% year-on-year. In the first six months of 2011 output increased by 6.7% compared to the same period last year, the Statistics Office said on Wednesday.
Compared to the month before, industrial output rose in June in manufacturing (2.2%) and electricity, gas and steam supply (0.3%), while it dropped by 2.1% in mining and quarrying.
As regards the main industrial groupings, the year-on-year comparison shows a 4% increase for capital goods industries, a 1.5% increase in intermediate goods industries and a 0.2% increase in consumer goods industries.
In the first six months of this year, output in manufacturing was up by 7.1% compared to the same period last year, in electricity, gas and steam supply it was up 4.8%, while production in mining and quarrying decreased by 7.1%.
Year-on-year, industrial output in the January-June period was up in all main industrial groupings. It was up in capital goods industries by 8.3%, in intermediate goods industries by 6.9% and in consumer goods industries by 5%.
Inventories in June were up 0.6% compared to May and 4.8% compared to June 2010. In the first six months, stocks were up 1.2% compared to the same period last year.
