Ljubljana, 09 November (STA) - Slovenian industry contracted in September both on monthly and yearly levels. Industrial output shrunk by more than 2% over August and by 0.2% year-on-year, according to preliminary data released by the Statistics Office on Friday.
On yearly level, industrial output in mining and quarrying dropped by more than 6% and by nearly 3% in manufacturing. However, in energy, steam and gas supply industrial output increased by as much as 16.5%.
Industrial output shrunk in all fields in September over August. In mining and quarrying, it dropped 3% and 1% in manufacturing. It was down 0.2% in energy, steam and gas supply.
However, industrial output for the first nine months of the year was higher than in 2011, as energy, steam and gas supply recorded a 13% increase, while mining and quarrying dropped by nearly 5% and manufacturing shrunk 0.1%.
The value of goods in stock was by nearly 2% higher in September than in August and 4% higher than in September 2011. In the first nine months, the value of goods in stock was also higher than in the same period last year - by 6%.
