Ljubljana, 10 May (STA) - Slovenia's industrial output rose 2.2% in March compared to the month before and 7.1% year-on-year. In the first three months of 2011, it increased by 9% compared to the same period last year, the Statistics Office said on Tuesday.
Compared to the month before, industrial output rose in manufacturing, by 7.6%, and in electricity, gas and steam supply, by 3.3%, while it decreased in mining, by 4.6%.
Industrial production increased in all industrial groupings at the annual level in March - in capital goods industries by 9%, in consumer goods industries by 6.6% and in intermediate goods industries by 6%.
In the first three months, industrial output increased in manufacturing (+9.4%) and in energy, gas and steam supply (+5.9%), while it decreased in mining and quarrying, by 2.8% year-on-year.
Industrial output also increased in all three industrial groupings in the first quarter compared to the same period last year: in capital goods industries by 10.5%, in intermediate goods industries by 9.6%, and in consumer goods industries by 6.5%.
Inventories in March were up by 1.9% compared to February, and by 1.4% compared to March 2010. However, in the first three months they were down 1.3% year-on-year.
