Inflation Down to 0.7% after 0.9% Drop in December

Ljubljana, 30 December (STA) - Slovenia's annual inflation rate fell by 0.6 percentage points to 0.7% in December as prices dropped 0.9% over the month before in what was the fourth and worst month of deflation this year, the Statistics Office said on Monday.

Lower prices of clothing and footwear, down 7% and 4% respectively as a result of December discounts, contributed 0.5 percentage points to the monthly drop, while lower prices of health insurance accounted for 0.3 percentage points.

Measured with the harmonised index of consumer prices, an EU gauge, the annual growth was 0.9% in December, while the monthly price growth remained negative (-0.5%).
