Ljubljana, 08 July (STA) - The Slovenian Public Agency for Entrepreneurship and Foreign Investments (JAPTI) was selected at the 15th conference of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) in Buenos Aires at the end of June WAIPA's managing agency for East Europe.
JAPTI said in a press release on Thursday that its director Igor Plestenjak would take over the management of East European investment promotion agencies for two years.
JAPTI has been a WAIPA member since the association's establishment in 1995, and has been an associated member in WAIPA's managing board since 2008, contributing to policy-making in the association.
The Slovenian agency organised in 2008 and 2009 international seminars for representatives of investment promotion agencies from 16 countries of East Europe and signed a number of cooperation agreements with the agencies from the region.
APTI presented in Buenos Aires its main goals as the managing agency for East Europe - closer and deeper cooperation among the WAIPA members in the region and intensive promotion of the region as an investment opportunity.
WAIPA associates 253 national and sub-national agencies from 162 countries, providing the opportunity for investment promotion agencies to network and exchange best practices in investment promotion.
