Ljubljana, 22 March (STA) - The Public Agency for Entrepreneurship and Foreign Investments (JAPTI) is taking a delegation of Slovenian business representatives to a high-tech business conference in Beijing on Friday. The business visit is aimed at boosting the recognisability of Slovenian innovations and transfer of know-how to industry.
According to a press release from JAPTI, the International Technology Transfer Beijing Conference 2012 will be attended by representatives of 10 Slovenian companies, while JAPTI will represent an additional 14 businesses that could not afford the trip.
These are innovative companies with a high level of know-how, which however lack the funds to get their innovations into industrial production.
Apart from the conference, the Slovenian delegation will attend a reception with the Chinese deputy minister for science and technology and Beijing vice-mayor.
The visit of the Slovenian business delegation to Beijing is organised by JAPTI in cooperation with the Slovenian Economic Development and Technology Ministry and the Slovenian Embassy in Beijing.
JAPTI is carrying out a number of activities aimed at helping Slovenian companies enter the Chinese market or expand their business in China. In the last two months, two seminars were organised on exporting to China and on business customs in the country.
In June, the agency is organising an investment and business conference in Slovenia with a visit of potential Chinese investors and business representatives.
Slovenian exports to China have been growing for several years. Last year they amounted to EUR 88.7m, while direct investment to China stood at EUR 14.5m. Slovenia meanwhile imported EUR 590m of goods from China.
In 2011, 216 Slovenian companies exported to China and 19 were active on its market.
