Novo mesto, 23 April (STA) - Drug maker Krka inaugurated on Friday renovated and expanded facilities for the production of pharmaceutical syrups and biocides at its Brsljin location. The EUR 26m investment wraps up an important phase of technological and production development, Krka CEO Joze Colaric told the press on the occasion.
He added that while the facilities would not considerably increase the number of employees, Krka's workforce currently stood at more than 8,200, up 400 compared to the end of 2009.
The company is also constructing a new facility for the production of solid dosage forms, worth EUR 92m, and a development and control centre, which will cost EUR 22m, Colaric said.
In Russia, Krka is launching a EUR 135m investment in the expansion of production and storage facilities, he said, adding that the company's planned investments this year were worth EUR 176m.
Facilities at the Brsljin location were opened in 1993, when the company purchased them from electronics group Iskra and adapted them for the production of plant-based drugs and medicines.
The renovated pharmaceutical syrup facility will have a capacity of 9,000 liters and annual output of 22 millions bottles of syrup, Krka said in a press release.
