Lipica, 03 December (STA) - The recently appointed acting director of Kobilarna Lipica Boštjan Bizjak presented on Monday a new business strategy for the stud farm, which is based on a greater focus on guests using travel agencies and a full overhaul of the hospitality segment.
Speaking about long-term plans of the farm, whose director Boštjan Bizjak resigned in October in the face of mismanagement accusations, Bizjak also mentioned new tourist packages aimed to revive the Karst region in general and not only the home of the famous Lipizzaner stallions.
Bizjak however first wants to focus on travel agency guest from neighbouring as well as remote countries, explaining that cooperation has already been restored with agencies from former Yugoslav countries.
Another plan is to refresh the hospitality segment, including with a renovation of the Club hotel, which is presently closed.
According to Bizjak, staffing policy has been one of the main problems, as Lipica Turizem, the subsidiary in charge of the farm's commercial activities, has had too many employees, while the farm has been understaffed.
Facing further cuts, Kobilarna Lipica plans to get more funds from admission revenue, which has so far been channelled to Lipica Turizem.
The farm expects 89,000 visitors by the end of this year, a slight decrease over last year, which Bizjak however also attributes to fewer events staged this year.
