Koper, 24 May (STA) - The group around port operator Luka Koper increased its net profit by 82% year-on-year to EUR 4.7m in the first quarter of 2013 on a 5% increase in operating revenues to EUR 37m. The core company's net profit increased by 105% to almost EUR 4m, show Luka Koper's unaudited results published on Friday.
The group generated an operating profit of almost EUR 6.3m in the first three months of the year, which is 34% more than in last year's Q1, while pre-tax profit was up 75% to some EUR 5.4m.
Operating revenues increased in all groups of goods except for cars, where revenues were down 7%.
Operating costs were at the same level as last year, EUR 31.4m, although cargo transshipment increased by 3% to almost 4.5m tonnes.
The core company generated operating revenues of some EUR 35.3m, which is 4.5% more year-on-year, but increased its operating profit by 39% to EUR 5.7m and pre-tax profit by 92% to EUR 4.6m.
The results were published after the end of trading on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange, where Luka Koper's share gained 7.55% to EUR 7.96 today.
