Luka Koper H1 Profit Surges

Koper, 22 August (STA) - Port operator Luka Koper reported a net profit of EUR 14.5m for the first six months of 2014, up 86% year-on-year, as operating profit surged 69% to EUR 18.33m.

Profit before income tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) approached EUR 32m, up almost a third on the year before, on the back of operating revenue that rose by a tenth to EUR 80m, the company said Friday.

Cargo transshipment at the Port of Koper rose 4% to 9.3 million tonnes as gains were recorded across all cargo categories bar bulk cargo, and exceeded plans by 2%, according to the company's unaudited interim report.

Most notably, the port recorded a 13% year-on-year increase of container transshipments, which increased operating revenue in this segment by 29%.
