Ljubljana, 14 December (STA) - Retailer Mercator has opened its largest hypermarket in Montenegro. The EUR 5m store covering 4,400 square metres will employ over 100 people, Slovenia's No 1 retailer said in a press release on Monday.
The hypermarket, which was officially launched Saturday, is located in the Mall of Montenegro in the capital Podgorica. Mercator has been present on the Montenegrin market since 2007 through the company Mercator-Mex, in which it holds a 81% stake. It currently has 11 stores in Montenegro. The Balkan markets are a priority for Mercator, which is planning to open two more shopping centres in Serbia by the end of the year. It will also launch the first store in Albania this year.
