Mercator Taking Over Operations of Bosnian Retailer

Ljubljana, 20 October (STA) - Retailer Mercator signed on Thursday a contract on strategic ties with Drvopromet from Sarajevo, taking over its trade business and securing 63 of Drvopromet's stores in a long-term lease.

The contract, which is waiting for a green light from Bosnia-Herzegovina's competition protection office, makes Mercator the leaseholder of 24,000 square metres of business premises across Bosnia.

The agreement moreover includes the purchase of all stocks and equipment, employing Drvopromet's workers and cooperation in commercial and wholesale fields.

According to Mercator, this connection will allow it to strengthen its position on the Bosnian market, while also being in line with its growth strategy and plans to become the biggest retailer of everyday products in SE Europe.
