Ministry: Bad Bank Proceeding as Planned

Ljubljana, 26 March (STA) - All procedures related to the setting-up of the bad bank are proceeding according to plans, the Finance Ministry said on Tuesday in response to speculations in some foreign media that Slovenia might be the next potential candidate to need EU help after Cyprus.

The Bank Assets Management Company (BAMC) was formally established last week and its non-executive directors were appointed as early as in February, in agreement with the IMF, EBRD and the European Central Bank, the ministry stressed.

The ministry also echoed the sentiment of new Prime Minister Alenka Bratušek that there was no need for the intervention of the troika of lenders in Slovenia.
