Ljubljana, 29 October (STA) - The average monthly labour costs per employee in Slovenia in 2009 were EUR 1,957, which is 2.2% more than in the year before. The average monthly costs for hour worked meanwhile stood at EUR 13.96, the Statistics Office said on Friday.
The highest share in labour costs was represented by income of employed persons (85.7%).
The average monthly labour costs per employee last year were highest in finance and insurance (EUR 3,005) and electricity, gas and steam supply (EUR 2,942), while the lowest costs were recorded in administrative and support service activities (EUR 1,334) and accommodation and food service activities (EUR 1,412).
According to the office's data for 2008, the highest average labour costs per employee in the EU in industry and services was recorded in Denmark (EUR 4,579) and Belgium (EUR 4,067). At the bottom of this list were Bulgaria (EUR 354) and Romania (EUR 628).
Slovenia (EUR 1,917) placed between Malta (EUR 1,421) and Spain (EUR 2,447).
