Brdo pri Kranju, 07 April (STA) - As the Business Excellence 2009 awards are to be conferred in Brdo pri Kranju late on Wednesday, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Gregor Golobic told the press that no company managed to meet the criteria for the main award.
Member of the jury Vojko Krizman told the press that the jury could not find an organisation that would fit the criteria for the main award. He noted that although there will be no winner this time, this did not mean that business excellence in Slovenia was poor.
He explained that business results played an important part of the criteria, noting that the results were down last year. The jury will however award the bronze and silver diplomas, as well as diplomas for special achievements.
The special achievements go to the Novo mesto General Hospital and Zdravilisce Radenci thermal resort. They are also among among the companies awarded with the silver business excellence diplomas.
The other companies conferred with the silver diplomas are energy supplier Elektro Gorenjska, automotive components maker Hidria AET and Administrative Unit Trebnje. Bronze diplomas will go to administrative units of Celje and Slovenj Gradec.
Golobic noted at the press conference that the Business Excellence Awards conferred by the Republic of Slovenia were the highest state award for private companies as well as public offices.
The awards have been conferred since 1998. To win, companies must score a certain number of points.
