Ljubljana, 24 December (STA) - Slovenian tourist resorts and sights attracted 234,500 visitors in October, a 5% increase on the same period last year. The total number of visitors after ten months stands at 2.63 million, 1% more than in 2009, show data published by the Statistics Office on Friday.
The figure is primarily the result of an 11% increase in the number of foreign visitors, who numbered 148,195 in October. In the first ten months of the year the number of foreign visitors was up 3% to 1.67 million.
The number of domestic tourists meanwhile dropped by 3% both in October and in the first ten months, to 86,305 and 968,471 respectively.
Overnight stays were up by 3% to 620,115 in October from October 2009 and down 1% to 7.89 million in the first ten months of the year compared with the same period last year.
Foreign visitors accounted for 355,356 overnight stays in October, a 7% increase, and for 4.49 million in the first ten months, a 1% improvement.
