Ljubljana, 22 October (STA) - The Velenje-based plastic product maker Plastika Skaza is the winner of this year's Golden Gazelle award for the fastest-growing Slovenian company, which is handed out annually by publisher Dnevnik. The winner was declared at a ceremony in Ljubljana's Cankarjev dom arts centre on Wednesday evening.
Plastika Skaza, which develops and makes products from high-tech plastic materials, including biomaterials and recycled materials, has made several transformations in its ten-year existence, the award commission said.
The company has turned from a craft company into a professionally-managed producer, from a company in crisis into a fast-growing company, from a subcontractor to a developer of its own products, the award commission added.
In the last five years, Plastika Skaza has almost tripled its sales revenues, from EUR 8.5m to EUR 24m, and has developed two product brands of its own.
Plastika Skaza is the winner in its own region and competed against another five regional gazelles, two of which also received awards.
The Silver Gazelle went to Portorož-based electronics maker SMT, while plastic component and mechanical assembly producer Cablex Plastik from Semič received the Bronze Gazelle.
