Ljubljana, 26 May (STA) - The group around port operator Luka Koper generated EUR 4.24m in net profit on EUR 35.21m of operating revenues in the first quarter of 2011, according to an unaudited report published on Thursday.
While the group's profit rose 25% year-on-year and is 73% above plans, revenues increased by 15% over the same period last year and are 3% above plans.
Along with high revenues, expenditures also rose by 7% to EUR 29.1m, but remained 2% below plans.
The group recorded EUR 6.1m in operating profit in the first three months, up 83% from the same period last year and 29% above plans for the first quarter. Earnings before taxes stood at EUR 4.3m, a 23% increase from the first quarter of 2010.
Luka Koper was slightly less successful in transshipment volumes, which amounted to just above 4m tonnes, which rose 7% year-on-year but were 5% below plans.
