Primorje Wins Bid to Extend Container Terminal in Croatia's Main Port

Ajdovscina, 23 December (STA) - Slovenian construction company Primorje will construct an extension of the container terminal in the port of Rijeka, the principal port in Croatia, together with two Croatian companies. The EUR 27m deal was signed on Tuesday between Primorje chairman Dusan Crnigoj and representatives of the Rijeka Port Authority.

The investor of the deal that Primorje has won in an international tender is the port operator, while funds will be secured by the International Development Bank, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.

The extension will include the construction of a 280-metre concrete pier for container ships, which will have to be secured with about a million cubic metres of rock.

Construction is expected to be wrapped up in three years.
