Ljubljana, 13 October (STA) - Public contracts worth EUR 2.8bn were awarded in Slovenia last year, accounting for 31% of the national budget and close to 8% of GDP, according to a report by the Finance Ministry.
Construction works were the single biggest segment of public contracts (EUR 780m), followed by purchases of goods. IT services are also a notable segment, as they were worth EUR 74m.
Domestic providers won 90% of the total value of the contracts.
The biggest spenders last year were the City of Ljubljana, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Spatial Planning and the Ministry of Finance.
