Road Cargo Transport Up 9% in Q2

Ljubljana, 13 October (STA) - Slovenian lorries transported 24.2 million tonnes of cargo in the second quarter of 2010, which is 9% more than in the same period last year, and made 4 billion tonne-kilometres in the same period, 11% up year-on-year, the Statistics Office said on Wednesday.

Transport of goods was up 7% in national and 18% in international transport, while the number of tonne-kilometres made in Slovenia dropped by 3% and increased by 13% in international transport.

Companies transported 64% of the goods, their vehicles making 92% of the tonne-kilometres total, whereas individuals transported 36% of the goods in the second quarter of 2010.
