Ljubljana, 13 April (STA) - Hotels at Slovenian tourist resorts expect similar or slightly higher visitor figures during the Easter and May holidays this year compared to 2013. Hotels at the Slovenian cost expect an occupancy rate of 60-70%, those at spa resorts of around 70-90%, while hotels in Ljubljana will probably be 50-60% full.
Italian, Austrian and German guests are expected to dominate in the capital of Ljubljana, Turism Ljubljana has told the STA.
The organisation highlighted the 18-20 April World Cup in Gymnastics and the traditional 30 April Labour Day bonfire on the Rožnik hill among the events worth visits during the holidays in Ljubljana.
It moreover recommended the special guided tours of the capital organised this year when 2000 year are passing since the Roman settlement Emona, on which present-day Ljubljana was built.
No major drop in visitor numbers is expected during the holidays - considered an important indicator for the rest of the year - at the coast, where the occupancy rate for this period in recent years has been at around 60-70%.
An expected improvement on last year is meanwhile reported from some of Slovenia's spa resorts, with the Lasko spa for instance saying that bookings for the Easter weekend are up to 87% from last year's 80%.
