London, 05 November (STA) - Slovenia, represented by 32 tourism companies and organisations under the wing of the Slovenian Tourism Board (STO), is presenting itself at the 2019 World Travel Market (WTM) in London as a destination committed to sustainability and providing for an active holiday supported by gastronomy and culture.
STO's Maja Pak told the STA that there was a lot of interest in the Slovenian stall at this leading global event for the travel industry, which is running from Monday to Wednesday.
The STO organised two meetings with select British media today. A highlight of the first meeting was the new 270 km-long hiking route in the Julian Alps called Juliana Trail, while Slovenia's gastronomic delights - to also be honoured as part of the Slovenia's status as the European Region of Gastronomy in 2021 - were in the focus of the second meeting.
Pak added she was "very happy Slovenian tourism also got a chance to present itself to key representatives of the global tourism industry at two exclusive events at the market".
Invited to the WTM Leaders' Lunch by WTM organiser Reed Reed Exhibition, the STO was able to present Slovenia on Monday as an attractive green destination that also has a lot to offer gastronomy-wise. A taste of it was provided by Slovenian master chef Uroš Štefelin.
Slovenia moreover presented itself as destination partner at a gala evening event of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), which featured representatives of global tourism associations, tourism ministers from various countries, representatives of Trip Advisor, Jacobs Media and major media.
As part the gala evening the STO launched a new promotional video on Slovenia, entitled Green Slovenia. The video was made in cooperation with acclaimed photographer Ciril Jazbec, a regular contributor for National Geographic.
