Ljubljana, 07 January (STA) - Sales of new cars and vans rose 4.6% year-on-year to 57,605 in 2013, the first increase in two years. But the figure is still a quarter below the 2008 peak, show figures released by the Chamber of Trade (TZS).
Renault remained the most popular car maker, followed by Volkswagen, Peugeot, Skoda, Opel and Citroen. The ranks of the top three remained unchanged over 2012.
By far the most popular model was Renault's Clio (3,944 vehicles sold), followed by the Volkswagen Golf (2,551) and the Kia Ceed (1,811).
In the vans segment Peugeot ranked first, followed by Renault and Volkswagen. Dealerships sold a total of 6,727 vans last year.
