Ljubljana/Mumbai, 14 September (STA) - The Slovenian and Croatian tourist organisations are promoting their countries' tourism sector in India's Mumbai with a joint project dubbed $Experience Croatia, Feel Slovenia$, the Slovenian Tourist Board (STO) said on Tuesday.
The STO and the Croatian Tourist Association (HTZ) have prepared two workshops presenting the two countries to the Indian market. The first took place today while the second will be held in New Delhi on Thursday.
Representing Slovenia at the events are Slovenian Ambassador to India Janez Premoze, head of the Economy Ministry's Tourism Directorate Marjan Hribar and Maja Pak of the STO.
"It's very important to the Indian guests that Slovenia is in the Schengen zone and that visa procedures are simple," said Hribar, adding that credit for the latter goes mainly to the Slovenian Embassy in New Delhi. India is a market with great potential, he noted.
Pak pointed out that a considerable growth of the overseas markets was recorded. "In India, we expect a 60% increase of tourists travelling abroad in the next three to five years."
These are mainly high-end tourists to which both countries may offer services suited to their needs and expectations. The appeal of Slovenia is in its diversity and proximity to well-known European tourist cities, she added.
