Ljubljana/Zagreb, 04 July (STA) - The NLB bank was the second largest bank in the Adria region in 2010 and Zavarovalnica Triglav the largest insurer, shows a survey by auditing firm Deloitte.
With EUR 16.8m in total assets, NLB was the second largest bank in the region, while the top three also consisted of Italian banking groups Unicredit and Intesa Sanpaolo, whose total assets stood at EUR 19.7m and EUR 15.8m respectively.
Austria-based banking groups Hypo Alpe-Adria and Raiffeisenbank followed in fourth and fifth place with EUR 10.9m and EUR 10.4m respectively.
Zavarovalnica Triglav topped the insurance companies list with EUR 944m in gross premiums. The Croatia insurance group followed with EUR 444m and Agram, also a Croatian group, was third with EUR 322m.
Completing the top five are Slovenia's Adriatic Slovenica with EUR 270m in gross premiums and Zavarovalnica Maribor with EUR 260m.
According to the press release by the Croatian Deloitte office, the Slovenian insurance market is the most developed in the region.
Deloitte defines the Adria region as consisting of Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia.
