Slovenia Records Trade Surplus in June

Ljubljana, 09 August (STA) - Slovenia exported EUR 1.67bn worth of goods in June, while imports stood at EUR 1.64bn, which puts the export-import ratio for the month at 101.9%, the Statistics Office reported on Monday.

Exports in June were up 18% compared to the same month in 2009, while imports rose 17.3% year-on-year.

Exports to EU markets amounted to EUR 1.19bn in June, representing 71.7% of Slovenia's overall exports. Imports from EU countries stood at EUR 1.3bn, representing 79.3% of the total worth of imported goods.

Slovenia exported EUR 472.4m worth of goods to non-EU markets in June and exported EUR 339.3m.

In the first six months of 2010, Slovenia exported EUR 8.87bn worth of goods, up 12.1% year-on-year. Imports in the period meanwhile stood at EUR 9.34bn, up 12.4% year-on-year.

This puts trade deficit in the first half at EUR 462.5m and the export-import ratio at 95%.
