Ljubljana, 10 September (STA) - Head of Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GZS) Samo Hribar Milič and vice president of the Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce and Industry Adila Huseyna signed a cooperation agreement in Ljubljana on Monday to boost what have been rather modest business ties between the two countries.
Hribar Milič said that the agreement would provide new opportunities for Slovenian companies in Azerbaijan and neighbouring countries.
While no concrete investments were discussed "quite a few more meetings will still follow and we will surely also broach this", he explained.
Huseyna said Azerbaijani entrepreneurs were aware of Slovenia's favourable location. They moreover see major investment opportunities in Slovenia's spa resorts.
Today's talks were part of wider efforts to boost cooperation. On 20 September Economic Development and Technology Minister Radovan Žerjav will pay a visit to Azerbaijan.
According to GZS data, Azerbaijan made no exports to Slovenia in the last four years, while Slovenia's average annual exports to Azerbaijan were at just under EUR 8m in this period.
