Celje, 08 September (STA) - The Slovenian Chamber of Trade Crafts and Small Business (OZS) signed a cooperation memorandum with its Macedonian counterpart at the Celje international MOS trade fair on Thursday. The deal is to spur business cooperation, create closer economic ties and improve the exchange of business information, know-how and experience.
OZS chair Stefan Pavlinjek said at the signing that the chamber had been cooperating with Macedonia for a number of years. "At first we were in contact with the Skopje regional chamber, however, there was nobody who could speak on behalf of the entire country."
"Today we signed a memorandum with the Chamber of Crafts of Republic of Macedonia. We formed a framework of our cooperation," said Pavlinjek.
Gligor Cvetkov, the chair of the Macedonian chamber, said that the Macedonian chamber could save a lot of time in bringing Macedonian legislation in line with the EU demands with the help of Slovenian experience.
Macedonia is relying on Slovenia's advice, as Slovenia has the most experience with EU legislation in the region, said Cvetkov.
Pavlinjek said that Slovenia would share its knowledge with Macedonian craftsmen and business representatives as well as help the country in setting up the chamber system.
"I always stress that craftsmen and entrepreneurs should not be moving their operations to China, instead they should go to Macedonia...we're well received there, the people are hard working and their work is good. Macedonia also has advantageous tax policy."
