Ljubljana, 08 November (STA) - Two of Slovenia's leading newspapers, Delo and Dnevnik, have launched apps for tablet computers in what are some of the first attempts by Slovenian old-media companies to move beyond the internet in their digital strategy.
Delo launched an iPad app this weekend for its daily Delo and the weekly Nedelo. It is .pdf-based and mimics the look and contents of the print edition, but it supports touch navigation.
The app will be free for existing premium users and the iPad-only subscription will be a little cheaper than the print subscription.
Delo says the app will be gradually upgraded to include multimedia content. It is also planning to release an Android app.
Dnevnik, meanwhile, launched an app for the Android-based Samsung Galaxy Tab, which went on sale on Monday at mobile operator Simobil.
Like the Delo app, the look is similar to the print edition with enhanced touch capabilities.
Dnevnik promises it will add features on an ongoing basis and make the app available for other Android platforms as well as the iPad and smartphones.
