Luxembourg, 19 September (STA) - Slovenia's construction sector shrunk by 0.8% in July over June and by 18.3% year-on-year, which is the biggest drop among EU countries, show seasonally adjusted data published by Eurostat on Wednesday.
Second to Slovenia was Portugal where construction works dropped by 18.2% at the annual level, followed by Spain, where the drop was 16.1%. The biggest growth of construction works was recorded in Hungary (7.7%).
At the monthly level, the EU average drop was 0.2%, while the construction sector in the bloc shrunk by 6.1% year-on-year. In the eurozone, construction works shrunk by 0.3% in July over June and 4.7% year-on-year, Eurostat said.
