Slovenia's Industrial Output Down 2.6% in April

Ljubljana, 10 June (STA) - Industrial output in Slovenia dropped 2.6% in April compared to the month before, and was down 9.7% year-on-year. Production in the first four months of 2010 meanwhile grew by 2% compared to the same period last year, the Statistics Office said on Thursday.

Compared to March, industrial output was higher in April only in mining and quarrying, by 5.2%. In manufacturing it was down by 3% and in electricity, gas and steam supply by 2.4%.

At the annual level, output was down only in electricity, gas and steam supply, by 3.5%. It was meanwhile up in mining and quarrying by 12% and in manufacturing by 11.1%.

By industrial groupings, industrial production in April increased only in intermediate goods industries (by 2%), while it was lower in capital goods industries (by 2%) and in consumer goods industries (by 0.5%).

Inventories grew on the monthly basis by 0.1%, but decreased in an annual comparison by 14.4%. Inventories in the first four months of 2010 were also down compared to the same period last year (-15.2%).
