Ljubljana, 28 October (STA) - The SPIRIT agency for the promotion of enterprise, investment and tourism will confer for the ninth time Invest Slovenia FDI Award honours to the best foreign investors in Slovenia. The award ceremony will be held at Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana on Tuesday evening.
The awards will be handed out in four categories: best business performance; best large service-oriented company, best employer and investor in the region; best reinvestment and recipient of funds as part of a public call for encouraging FDI; and long-term presence and sustainable investment-orientation.
The jury only shortlisted companies that have more than 50 employees, operate with a profit, have high credit rating, generate at least EUR 35,000 in value added per employee and are not tax debtors. Also, only companies were accepted that did not cut their workforce last year and are not using tax havens.
Companies were also considered for awards that received financial incentives via a public call for furthering FDI, which was organised by SPIRIT from 2011 to 2013.
Last year wireless provider Simobil was honoured in the category of large companies, steel company Akers Valji Ravne in the business performance category, automotive company Cecomp for best greenfield investment, while Slovenian pharma company Lek, a member of Sandoz, was honoured for long-term presence in Slovenia.
