Splosna Plovba Posts EUR 31.5M Net Profit in First Half

Portoroz, 23 July (STA) - Slovenia's sole shipping company Splosna plovba transported more than three million tonnes of goods in the first six months of 2010, generating EUR 97m in revenues and EUR 31.5m in net profit, the company said on Friday.

Splosna plovba chairman Egon Bandelj assessed the first-half results as very good and above the expectations. He does not expect such results in the second half of 2010 because of highly reduced freight rates for bulk cargo.

In the first three months this year, the Portoroz-based company posted EUR 44m in revenues and EUR 13m in net profit, which is almost 50% more than in the same period in 2009.
